I completely oppose gay marriage because I think it's an assimilationist action...the state should endorse domestic partnerships for everyone.
Semantics. That's what legal marriage *is*, and that's what gay marriage would be, legal domestic partnership. Calling it 'gay marriage' doesn't mean making it fit the 'hetorosexual model', it means making it ok for any two people to enter into a long term domestic contract. Just because the religious act of joining two people is called 'marriage', doesn't make the legal act doing the same thing any less valid.
