Quick Question

Tell me what you think of teh following quote from a novel:

"Suburbia is desolate landscape, Zane. It's been scoured bare by prime time TV, 9-5 jobs and too many meetings with the PTA." Jay gave me a surprisingly serious look. "But underneath it all is the pressure of lifetimes of repressed emotions. There is a volcano waiting to happen at the end of every cul-de-sac. "

He sat down on the curb. "When Mt. Cherry Blossom Lane blew, I got hit full in the face with all of that energy. I start seeing weird shit and figured out I could do even weirder shit. That's what is happening to you, too."

He looked up at me. "You're not a part of the suburban wasteland anymore. You are Outside now, man. And you can't go back in. No one else understands and would probably burn us at the stake if they did."

I sat down next to him. "So, what do we do?"

"We watch each other's back. We stay low. We take care of our business when no one is watching."

Cute. Suburbia is as much Outside as anywhere else, IMHO, but the idea is cute.
