THIS is part of why we haven't gone with foster care. DSHS has pretty much said if the parent isn't abusing the kid, then it's simply not their problem. So I can't get a lot of the support I need until I start hitting Miri. Thanks a fucking lot, state of Washington.

this article touches on some of the reasons why the 15-year-old who assaulted my grandmother was allowed/forced to remain in his grandmother's home despite a history of mental illness and violence. it took a violent crime to find him a place where he could receive treatment and his grandmother (and mine) was safe.
