I was a teenage proto-blogger!
Jun. 24th, 2006 09:53 pmYup, I was, in fact, a teenage proto-blogger.
You see, in high school, my friends and I had these journals. Blank books (back before they were popular and you could maybe find two or three at a book store if you were lucky). We'd write in them, then pass them around, read each other's stuff, write in each other's journals, then repeat. So really, it was a primitive form of blogging. I kept my books for years, until I decided to burn them a few years after Miri was born. (I needed to feel like I was getting on with life - I'd discovered there were issues from high school I still hadn't let go of yet.)
So I remember this because, the other day, Eleri and I were at the book store and ran across some really beautiful blank books. I bought one, because it was just so cool. It''s got a leather-looking cover with gold etching that looks like it could be straight out of a Myst game. I also got a cheapo blank book.
Thing is, I've got two other blank books. I have one
jadewaterflame gave me many years ago, and I have a blank sketch book with a green leather (real) cover with dragons on it that my friend Brett gave me from a Ren faire (of course, I found out after the fact that she'd stolen it for me).
So I am staring at these four blank books, unsure what to do with them. I do all of my writing and designing and tinkering on the computer - I have blogs, wikis (which are woefully underused) and even have a copy of OneNote installed (I actually use it at work for work related notes). I don't know how to write on hardcopy effectively anymore. I can't think of anything I'd want to commit to paper. It's to hard to edit, to hard to revise, which has become a cornerstone of my writing/thinking style. I really don't want to put something into the special books - they deserve something special.
So I am at a loss.
