Birthday Report
May. 3rd, 2003 11:23 pmIt was my birthday on May 2nd, Friday
Unfortunately, I'm pretty tired at the moment, so there isn't the bubbliness one might expect.
Work was okay. I was dead tired through all of the day, though I had lots of people IM me and tell me Happy birthday. I was looking forward to the evening tho. That's actually odd for me, as I tend to just let my birthdays go by without notice (For instance, I had to be reminded a week ago that my birthday was in a week, as opposed to "sometime soon").
Got off work and picked Eleri up from OHSU and drove out to Changs out in NE Portland. Had dinner with Jenn, Ryan, Dawn, Chris, SuperKen, Darklady and Byron. Unfortunately, edited not everyone could make it. Was a nice dinner, lots of garlic.
Then I openned presents :) I got a nice tie-dye shirt from the kids (I am wearing it right now) and some thundereggs from Dawn. Ryan got me a handydandy notebook.
Eleri got me all sorts of cool stuff. A black fedora with "Blues Brothers 2000" on the band. It's a bit big, but very cool. I haven't been able to find my fedora for months and have been missing it. Also, she got me two pairs of fingerless black leather gloves. On one pair, she painted runes, hebrew letters, alchemical symbols and words in Sinnish on. And then I found the trenchcoat.
It's a black army issue trenchcoat, meaning it will last for ever. She'd added leather to the collar and sort of flairs to the sleeves. She painted a big silver pentacle on the back of it with the six Sinnish elements written in Sinnish around it: xos (fire), kar@m (earth), wus (air), Sim (water), rek (sun) and t@r (shadow). On the sleeves were the alchemical symbols for the Philosopher's Stone and Mercury. On the collar is the alchemical symbol for amalgam (also the symbol for the sphere of Correspondence from Mage: the Ascension). And on the right, she painted a symbol that I made up, a chaos ankh (a merge between a chaos star and an ankh). Along the bottom hem of the trench, she wrote my favorite quote from Walt Whitman in Sinnish: uZkar@mar ulakem ko uZbarabar ulakem (I am a poet of the body and a poet of the soul).
So it's veryvery cool. I have urban shaman ritual wear now - technopagan armor. :) :) :)And to top it off, I got the weirdest looks from people when we walked out of the restaurant. Eleri said some woman was starin at the back of my coat ;)
We then went down to Wilsonville to see X2. A very cool movie, for the genre. :) I thought Nightcrawler was actually a very interesting character. And the chick playing Rogue did look pretty nice in a nightie ;)
Then we came home because I was very tired and I slept :) The End.
Thank you to everyone who helped me have a good birthday :)

Date: 2003-05-08 10:16 pm (UTC)Hopefully we can be more social once we move - we'll be closer in and such. And that means people can visit us, which is more likely successful with the weapon of mouse destruction to watch after.
