Monday is busy
Mar. 11th, 2004 06:51 pmSo, I have two (yes two) job interiews on Monday! One at noon, one at 3pm. Then a wedding to do at 5ish. Then an evening with
gemgin.
It's going to be a very very busy day. I hope I do okay at the interviews. I'm notoriously bad at them. And I have to ask about how they handle leave covered by the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) in case I need it for Miri. That could be dicey.
How do you sound interesting in an interview? I have never figured out how to do it. And that whole 'what is your greatest weakness?' question. How do you answer that?
But here's to hoping. :)

"In my last job I found that I often would take on too many work tasks. My supervisor at the time, worked with me to develop skills in training others and delegating work. This allowed me to focus on my work tasks without becoming over-extended."
"I pride myself on being a 'big picture' guy. I have to admit I sometimes miss small details, but I always make sure I have someone who is detail-oriented on my team." (or vice-versa)
"I get very nervous when I have to give presentations. However, I try to overcome this by preparing very well. I try to think of all the questions I could be asked, and make sure that I am ready for them."
"My greatest weakness is not being able to put up with idiots who ask about my greatest weakness. It takes a true HR automaton to even consider asking the question in the first place. It smacks of corporate lockstep, blue-flannel mindlessness and a deep-seated lack of any personal imagination."
Good luck!

Date: 2004-03-12 06:20 am (UTC)I have a wonderful DOC file on how to do interviews that Synerfac sent me right before I landed the job here at the DOT. The tips in it really helped me. Remind me when I'm not at work (i.e. evening) and I'll send it to you.
